PUMP has sent another family to spread the news of the Gospel to the far reaches of the world. In December, Andrew, Aimee Jo, & Ananiah Martin moved to Fort Portal, Uganda, East Africa to work with the exciting mission efforts that are growing there. Andrew & Aimee Jo first joined PUMP as interns from Cascade College in our second year of ministry. They quickly became integral to the work in Northeast Portland, living in the neighborhood, hosting a Life Group, directing PSP, teaching classes, and living the gospel of Jesus. Although we are personally heartbroken to be so far from them, we are thrilled that the Martins are choosing to impact the Kingdom in a mission field that has grown in the hearts of PUMP over the years with many of our members taking short-term mission trips there in the years past. They join Jeff & Cheryl Cash, along with the Cashes four children, who have been in Fort Portal for eleven years.

We love you Andrew, Aimee Jo, & Anaiah and pray God's greatest blessings on you!

Praise starts at 9:30. Those of you signed up to drive vans that Sunday can expect a phone call from me this week about our plan for community children. This year the TLC committee is asking everyone to bring a few cans of food for a food drive to help feed the hungry in the Portland/Vancouver area. There will be boxes placed just inside all the entrances to our ballroom. Imagine what an impact we can make in our city when we all work together in unity!

Readers Needed!

The PUMP Summer Program needs you to help individual children and small groups in our Reading Program. Come to Mallory Church of Christ on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from July 9 through August 1, 9:00-11:00 a.m.

      <dc:subject>PUMPLog</dc:subject>

The PUMP Summer Program needs you to help individual children and small groups in our Reading Program. Come to Mallory Church of Christ on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from July 9 through August 1, 9:00-10:30 a.m. Each volunteer is provided with excellent curriculum and tons of support and encouragement! During the small group reading program volunteers read a book to the group together, help children read their own books and journal their ideas, and facilitate reading enhancement activities. If you prefer to help children one on one, you will use the same curriculum as the small groups with one child who could benefit from individualized attention and support in their reading endeavors.

This program is invaluable for helping children maintain their reading levels between school years! Studies show that many low-income children do not have opportunity to read with adults at home either because books are not readily available or because the adults within a given home are working or have multiple children or generations for which they need to give care. You can make a difference!

It's easy! It's fun! Why don't you give it a try?

PUMP is excited to announce the addition of Kenli Edwards, who will be serving as our Summer Coordinator for 2007! Kenli is a 2005 graduate of Abilene Christian University who currently resides in Burleson, Texas, just outside of Fort Worth. She works as a track and basketball coach, as well as a substitute teacher at Southwest Christian School. Kenli has extensive experience as a mentor with young people and as a leader with peers. A few years ago she even led an ACU Spring Break Campaign trip to PUMP! We are extremely thrilled to have her experience and heart as she helps lead our summer activities. Along with serving with the church, she will primarily be responsible for PSP and our great intern team. Drop her a note through the website if you'd like to give her a little encouragement - Northwest style!
